SOLICITOR / LAWYER

Legal Works are delighted to be working for this lead international City based practice who have a new role and are recruiting a Financial Services / regulatory lawyer to join a friendly and hugely successful team.
· Working closely with the Group's Financial Services contentious lawyers and the banking & corporate lawyers the team is looking for a non-contentious/regulatory advisory financial services lawyer with at least 4PQE gained in either another large city practice or possibly in-house in a regulatory lawyer role in a financial services organisation.
· This role requires a good working knowledge of existing financial services primary & secondary legislation. Knowledge of the FSA Handbook & FSA policy and practice is essential.
· You will work closely with the partner heading the advisory side of the practice as well as with the other partners in the Financial Services Regulatory team.
· Many clients are banks and funds so particular knowledge of the regulatory aspects of banking business & fund management would be particularly welcome. The practice is international in character so a familiarity with cross-border regulatory issues and working for international clients would also be an advantage.
· You will have good drafting skills with particular experience of drafting agreements and completing FSA applications and notifications. You will be a confident individual who is a good team player who can work well with teams in other parts of the firm and in other countries, as well as with clients.
· By way of example the team has particular experience in the following areas:
- Implementing EU Directives for clients and new UK regulatory requirements
- Regulatory aspects of cross-border transactions
- Regulatory advice to boards of directors about their obligations
- authorisations and permission to conduct regulated activities
- financial promotion
- customer and investment transaction documentation
- collective investment scheme arrangements
- managing conflicts of interest
- senior management and approved persons obligations
- regulatory capital issues
- systems and controls, compliance manuals and procedures
- requirements relating to client money and assets
- mortgage and general insurance mediation
- outsourcing in the financial services sector.
