GLOBAL BANKING & FINANCE PSL - LONDON CITY
Global Banking & Finance Professional Support Lawyer required for leading international firm to assist the Banking and Finance Global Knowledge Officer ("GKO") in global know-how initiatives in our Banking & Finance practice. This will entail implementing and executing on key knowledge content projects for the Global Banking and Finance Practice Group and the London office Banking Group, and for leading implementation of the Firm's Knowledge Strategy for the group, both globally and in London.
The role may require some elements of travel to other offices in the firm's network.
Principal functions to include:
· Working as part of the Global and London KM teams, liaising with professional support lawyers in other Practice Groups, and ensuring a coordinated approach to global knowledge management related to banking and finance.
· Directly developing knowledge content for the Global Practice Group; creating precedents, explanatory/drafting notes, best Banking and Finance practice procedures and checklists; reviewing transaction workflow and documentation with a view to developing new or improved content or updating existing content; accumulating, or overseeing the accumulation of, content within the Global Banking and Finance Practice Group.
· Assisting practitioners throughout the Global Practice Group on an ad hoc basis with specific requests for content or know-how and generally maintaining a watching brief on key legal developments that will be relevant to the Group's global practice. Assist Group lawyers (and others) on ad hoc basis with specific requests for work product/know-how,liaising with other PSLs, firm information centres and libraries and trainees as appropriate.
· Maintain collection of sample/standard form precedents to augment precedent bank.
· Monitoring of and reporting on relevant legal developments, including by:
a) regular legal updates at Group meetings
b) regular circulation of bulletins
c) special reports on new initiatives/developments of significance (e.g. extraordinary Group meetings; briefing notes to clients)
d) maintaining watching brief on key legal developments (e.g. new legislation/case law).
· Assist in developing and implementing Group qualified and trainee lawyer training programmes, and deliver training as appropriate, including by liaising with Training Partners, other PSLs and Training Departments.
Reporting Lines:
Your primary day-to-day direction and interaction will come from the GKO. You will be expected to work closely with:
· partners within the Global Banking and Finance Practice Group, in particular the London office Banking group partners, who have special know-how and/or training responsibilities
· champions of knowledge content initiatives within the Firm
· lawyers in the Global Practice Group involved in those initiatives
Qualifications: Knowledge & Skills:
The Professional Support Lawyer for the Global Banking and Finance Practice Group will ideally:
· Have a minimum of 2.1 degree
· Have a strong educational and professional background.
· Be a lawyer experienced in the practice of English banking and finance law.
· Have substantial experience in the execution of mainstream banking and finance transactions, preferably including substantial acquistion finance experience.
· Have a track record of providing professional support services and a strong interest in the development of legal content.
· Have experience in the management and use of knowledge management systems.
· Be innovative and client-focused in the use of knowledge.
