CORPORATE PRACTICE SOLICITOR - LONDON CITY

Leading Channel Islands legal firm seeks Associate for Corporate Practice Group based in London. They are looking for a UK qualified Solicitor 3 - 5 years PQE with key experience in corporate and compliance/regulatory law.

The role will be mainly corporate with assumption of responsibility as Money Laundering Reporting Officer for the London team.
Anticipate that initially 50% of the employee's time will be spent on setting up the MLRO role but that this will reduce to 30% or 20% after the systems are put into place.
Prior experience of Guernsey law is unnecessary as the firm will train the successful candidate

MLRO role:
1.to identify the implications of regulation and legislation for the team in London
2.to assess the compliance risks relevant to the business in London
3.to develop the organisation's anti-money laundering policy, in conjunction with the policies adopted in Guernsey and Jersey
4.to advise and train the staff in the London office on the scope and implications of the organisation's anti-money laundering policy
5.to implement the organisation's anti-money laundering policy
6.to prepare for and manage compliance inspections by the regulator
7.to design and implement an internal money laundering reporting system
8.to receive and evaluate internal reports of suspicious financial activity
9.to report suspicious financial activity to law enforcement agencies
10.to keep proper records of AML and Compliance monitoring
11.to maintain current knowledge of current AML regulations, policies and official guidance.

Corporate / Funds lawyer role
1.to undertake general Guernsey corporate legal work including acquisitions, corporate finance work, property finance work, banking;
2.to advise on the setting up of collective investment schemes, open and closed ended, in Guernsey.
