Banking Solicitor/Associate, Corporate Group, Gatwick
Our client is one of the leading law firms in southern England, they are seeking a Solicitor or Associate to join the firms Corporate group, specialising in Banking and Finance.
The Banking and Finance team carries out transactional work in the Gatwick Office. It forms part of the winder cross-firm Banking and Finance Sector Group which co-operates on business development to develop work in the banking and finance field for all parts of the firm. As the team is located within the Corporate in Gatwick the job also involves corporate support work and legal due diligence as well.
The Clients of the Banking and Finance team range from major clearing banks (in London, the South East and elsewhere) and invoice discounters to corporate borrowers and individual guarantors. The core practice area is acquisition finance, corporate and commercial banking and property finance. However there is a wide variety of other transactional work. Some advice on standard forms and the effect of legislative changes on banking and finance matters is also given.
The Role.
The role involves working with the partner leading the team and taking responsibility for running your own transactions, under supervision. This is a role where team working, self motivation and organisation are important.
The role also includes participation in Banking and Finance Group marketing initiatives (such as seminars for clients). We regard business development as a team responsibility and it is important that every member of the team can effectively represent the team and the firm.
They are seeking a candidate with the following attributes:
Solid experience of banking and finance work is essential (or with a demonstrable ability to do so).
Knowledge of relevant legislation, including Companies Act 2006 and Consumer Credit Act 1974 and relevant case law.
A commercial and pragmatic approach to advice and negotiations is highly important.
Previous experience of working closely with clients and acting as their legal advisor.
