Job Description
Corporate or Finance LawyerGE Aviation is one of the largest, most profitable businesses within the General Electric Company. It is a world class provider of aircraft and aero derivative systems and services, including jet engines and gas turbines for marine and industrial applications. In addition, it provides comprehensive maintenance support for jet engines in service throughout the world.
Offering extremely interesting and challenging legal work in a dynamic global, fast paced environment, Aviation is now seeking a Legal Counsel to be based in Dubai. Reporting to Aviation's General Counsel, EMEA in London, this position will provide legal support to Aviation's businesses in Middle East, including its Commercial Engine Operations, Aviation Services, Aviation Systems, Aviation Supply Chain and Aviation's Military Systems Organization. You will provide advice to senior business leaders who view legal counsels as highly valuable members of the organisation and will work collaboratively with them to achieve GE Aviation's growth objectives.
The successful candidate will be required to provide:
Pro-active legal advice to the business with a primary focus on the delivery of general commercial/corporate support with an Aviation focus for Commercial Engines and Systems. This will include drafting, negotiating, and advising on a variety of transactions related to the aviation industry and business development related transactions.
Ongoing advice and support to Aviations' operating affiliates in Middle East with respect to those businesses' various general commercial matters, including commercial disputes, commercial real estate, aviation regulatory matters, company secretarial duties, and creditors' rights.
Support to GE Aviation's Military System Organization (MSO) on the delivery and support of MSO transactions with foreign defense organizations and OEMs, and proactively provide regulatory support across the region.
Advice and support for GE's compliance programme.
The ideal candidate will have excellent academics and a minimum of seven years' PQE with a major international law firm or multinational, with a major emphasis on structuring, negotiating, documenting and closing commercial/corporate transactions. You will be required to establish strong relations with Aviation's key commercial and military customers in the region and operate as a member of a cross-functional business team, and as such must possess excellent interpersonal skills and be able to handle multiple assignments in a time pressured environment. Whilst aviation experience and/or Arabic language skills are desirable they are not essential. This is a fantastic opportunity for a smart, proactive, imaginative team player to join one of the most global companies in the world.
Please note that due to the volume of applications received, only successful applicants will be contacted.
