On Behalf of a well known Oil & Gas Engineering company, Frances Armstrong Associates LLP is currently seeking an In-House Lawyer / Legal Advisor with between 3-10 years pqe to join the companys London offices to assume responsibility for the companys Qatar projects.
This is an exciting In-House role with frequent travel and would either suit an In-House Solicitor from within the oil, gas or energy sectors or a Solicitor or Barrister from a private practice background with proven experience working with energy, oil and gas companies.
Reporting directly to the Director or the companys Lead Counsel, the successful applicant will work closely with the leadership team on projects as well as key stakeholders to produce a thorough understanding of issues and compliance. Your approach must be effective, proactive, influential and you must be able to offer sound legal advice while being aware of the commercial environment.
For this role, the successful applicant must be available to travel regularly with trips at least once every six weeks to Qatar and possibly other locations.
Basic function of the role includes but not limited to

Take responsibility for certain complex legal matters and provide advice and counsel to internal clients without supervision.· Work with senior management in accordance with company objectives, legal position, research and guidance relating to issues pertinent to company business.
· Provide the Sales Department and Project Managers with legal guidance specific to the projects and proposals assigned.
· Attend and participate in Pricing Committee, Inquiry Review Committee and Project Review meetings.
· Ensure all legal advice is given in accordance with UK statutory requirements and the Companys policies and procedures.
· Assist in all matters requested and render support to the Director and Lead Counsel.
· When acting as a member of the Inquiry Review Committee, participate in the evaluation of enquiries submitted by the Sales team to determine advisability of pursuing the defined business opportunity in the light of the legal risks.
· Travel to overseas sites when required approximately every six weeks (weekdays only)
Applicant requirements
· 3 10 years pqe In-House Solicitor or Private Practice Solicitor or Barrister
· A minimum of 3 years experience working in-House from within the oil and gas sector or a minimum of 5 years private practice experience working with energy, oil and gas companies
· Must be able to integrate diverse functional areas and accountabilities spanning across organisational lines.
· Ideally have additional experience in Major Projects, Procurement, Warranty Issues and Insurance
Salary up to £70,000 p.a + benefits
Start Date - ASAP
