Job Description

This expanding firm has a unique and valued culture.

This role would suit an experienced assistant/junior associate looking to join a growing team that currently consists of 2 well regarded partners, one junior assistant and a trainee. The emphasis of the work would at least initially be on contentious construction work.

The successful candidate would be able to work within the construction team specifically and the commercial property department generally, and manage a varied work level without the need for much supervision. The successful candidate would be looking to develop a practice in a young firm, he or she will help the Bristol centred construction law team service clients across the firm's 4 offices.

Attributes Required:

Sound technical and legal knowledge, and knowledge of the property industry's general requirements
Ability to apply legal knowledge and skills effectively
Ability to relate to clients and fellow professionals within the commercial property industry
Adaptability and a willingness to handle different types and qualities of construction work
Willingness to address and learn about construction and development work the applicant may not have experienced before but which is necessary to fulfil the requirements for the position and the requirements of clients
Initiative and an ability to find the right solution to problems on their own
Commercial awareness and confidence
A demonstrable ability to manage and increase a large and demanding workload
The candidate should be well organised and believe in the importance of having efficient working systems in place
Good drafting skills and knowledge of standard form contracts and dispute resolution documents (e.g. case statements) without an over reliance on precedents
Socially adept and confident and willing to take on an active role in business development
The candidate should enjoy challenges
The candidate should be able to offer pro-active advice to clients and construction professionals
Preparedness and ability to offer training to other fee earners within the team and the commercial property department on particular aspects of construction and commercial property in which the applicant has specialised or will be encouraged to specialise
