My client a well know and reputable law firm based in Bristol City are looking to recruit a IT Applications Service Manager to join their growing team.

The Application Services Manager will be the lead operational, strategic, and delivery manager responsible for all application services. The IT Applications Services Manager will have full responsibility for training & development, performance reviews and delegating responsibilities across the applications team. You will ensure that technical expertise is appropriately distributed across the required disciplines. Further to the core role, this senior IT Manager will take the lead in an operational role within the IT Team. This role will be the deputy to the IT Director and will assume day to day operations in the absence of the IT Director where applicable.

This role would suit an ambitious, dynamic technologist who possesses a strong business focused approach with key skills in the following core areas: - Strong Business Analysis skills - build rapport with key stakeholders to understand their key requirements by conducting thorough analysis.

This individual will need to balance the need of the user community with the operational needs of the support services (such as support overhead, software architecture, security, IT strategy). Strong Development background - experience within a development role, integrating COLT and developing in-house software. Must have good knowledge of modern Microsoft technologies, development methodologies, and best practices (architecture and security).

Strong general IT knowledge - a sound background of IT, having worked 'hands on' as a programmer and/or business analyst through to supporting/managing application services. Strong application architecture and security knowledge - to ensure that our services work together in a consistent and seamless manner. Candidates will be goal focused with a strong delivery mindset and demonstrable project delivery record. Candidates will have proven delivery of at least two large change programmes, preferably to include one of the following Legal IT applications: -
* Practice Management
* Document Management
* Matter-centric working (preferred)
* Data cleansing, warehousing and reporting
* Workflow/BPM (preferred)
* Case Management Ideally candidates should be working within a Legal environment or have previous experience of a Law Firm, ideally 350+ employees. in developing IT systems.

You will also be required to produce weekly/monthly status reports to management to provide any current customer technical issue's and work performed by the applications team to solve issue's and mitigate risks. Our client use's many COLT products including: * Interwoven * Interaction * SOS Practice Manager * Lexus Nexus Visual Files * Workshare * MS Office * Sharepoint 2007 * Business Objects * .Net Development The team analyse requirements and implement COLT products with a particular focus on bespoke integration. Increasingly the team develop workflow, databases, extranets and intranets (in-house). Previous legal sector experience is essential but other non-legal sectors will be considered if all other aspects of the role are met. Exceptional technical knowledge of Microsoft software and software system architectures.A professional who maintains high working standards. Adept communicator with the ability to articulate to a number of different audiences (including senior partner level. Familiarity with ITIL working processes.
