Trust & Small Business Accounts Officer - Newcastle

We have a unique opportunity to join our esteemed Private Wealth team in Newcastle. Working as part of our Tax/Trust & Accounting team, you'll take responsibility for a portfolio of trust and business accounts on behalf of the firm.

The role

You will be working independently preparing accounts for trusts, charities and small businesses, to include corporation tax and VAT compliance. In addition to this you will also assist the wider team with personal and trust tax return preparation and related compliance.

The team

Our Private Wealth team are a collaboration of lawyers, accountants, financial advisors and tax specialists. Their expertise are highly regarded and ensure that our clients' wealth is protected, now and for future generations. For law firms, this is a pretty unique setup which allows us to offer our clients the very best full-service advice possible.

The firm

Womble Bond Dickinson is a full-service transatlantic law firm, created on 1 November 2017 through the combination of UK firm Bond Dickinson and US firm Womble Carlyle.

A Top 100 law firm globally and Top 20 law firm in the UK, Womble Bond Dickinson has more than 420 partners and 1,000 lawyers based across 16 US cities and eight UK cities including a significant presence in London. The firm's reach also extends to Europe where it has strategic partnerships with other law firms in Germany and France.

In the UK, Womble Bond Dickinson advises in excess of 40 FTSE 350 companies, many of the largest businesses in the country, government organisations and wealthy individuals. With a focus on eleven key sectors (Energy & Natural Resources; Financial Institutions; Healthcare; Insurance, Manufacturing; Real Estate; Retail and Consumer; Transport, Logistics & Infrastructure; Pharmaceuticals, Biotechnology & Life Sciences; Technology and Private Wealth) the firm’s experience allows it to build strong relationships and deliver an excellent service to clients.

What are we looking for?

We are looking for an individual with significant experience of accounts preparation, probably from within accountancy practice rather than industry. You'll need knowledge of a wide range of accounts formats, processes and procedures, working both manually and with relevant systems (especially CCH Trust Accounts). Experience of presenting information in spreadsheet format (Excel) and in written report form (Word) is also required. A professional accounting qualification is essential, such as ACCA. Experience of preparing VAT returns for business entities and working knowledge of VAT schemes and partial exemption rules is also required. From the tax perspective, any working knowledge of preparing corporate tax returns and personal/trust returns would be beneficial, as would a relevant tax qualification.

Why Womble Bond Dickinson?

We've recently been recommended as a top tier law firm across 76 practice areas in the Chambers UK Guide to Law Firms. We've won various awards this year and have an Investors in People accreditation.

Our offices are all impressive and looked after by our great Facilities and Guest Services team. We have a catering company who run our onsite delis (recommend the chilli chicken) and our forward thinking IT team are always updating our systems. As you'd expect in a firm our size you'll receive a comprehensive benefits package which you can manage personally.

But most of all – it's our people and culture that make it a great place to work.

Next steps

If you would like to join a committed, talented and dynamic team, who go the extra mile to provide excellent service, then please get in touch to find out more. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me..
