There can be very few positions that allow an experienced insurance professional such progression as this fantastic opportunity.
Our client, a global broking house, seeks ambitious Brokers and Underwriters to join its prestigious Corporate Broking Unit. Rather than a traditional class room environment, you will learn the role from the ground up, playing a pivotal, ‘hands on’ role in the Corporate Unit’s success from ‘the off’. This will certainly prove an interesting challenge to those already in a technical insurance position, and you will certainly not miss high level client interaction!
You will join a 3-year Training Academy, which will give you the confidence to deal with a wide range of commercial insurance covers, and also build up your exposure to undertaking client facing duties. Particular emphasis will be placed on developing your sales skills, including establishing a pipeline, networking and dealing with ‘bigger ticket’, longer gestation clients.
At the end of the 3-year Training Academy, you will have earned a formal Degree in Business to Business Sales, and professional qualifications with both the Chartered Insurance Institute and the Association of Professional Sales. Upon completion, alongside the above academic and professional qualifications, you will have all the skills to move within the company into a variety of positions, both UK and abroad.
Alongside working in conjunction with some of the region’s most gifted corporate broking personnel, you will also be dealing with some of the UK’s most coveted insurance accounts, including well-known blue chip and FTSE 250 companies, including those with extensive international exposures. You will also gain the opportunity to work with specialist teams from niche areas of insurance (Aviation, Marine, Credit Insurance etc.) to ensure that you have a detailed understanding of all areas of the industry.
It is essential that you have an introductory knowledge of commercial insurance, gained in either an underwriting, broking or claims environment. In order to build sound professional rapport with clients of all industry sectors, you must also be articulate with good communication skills, a high degree of emotional intelligence and strong ‘people skills’.
You must have 80 UCAS Tariff Points at A Level or NVQ 3 (or equivalent) coupled with Maths and English at GCSE C Grade or above. Whilst not essential, we particularly welcome applications from those who have already commenced studies under the CII, or have started attending Institute lectures and getting involved in their local insurance community.
This role offers perhaps one of the most impressive packages we have seen at Aston Charles, including a basic salary akin to that of a Junior Account Executive / Senior Account Handler, bonus and range of company benefits.
