Job description
Position: Solicitor or Legal Executive
Department: Residential Conveyancing and Agriculture
Reporting to: Head of Private Client
Location: Barnard Castle

Job summary

 Undertake fee earning work and provide a profitable contribution to the work of the
department.
 Ensure the successful development of the Company in line with the business plan.

Main duties and requirements

 Conduct of matters on behalf of clients.
 Supervision of fee earning work undertaken by colleagues.
 Management of support services for which (s)he is responsible, including supervision
of own secretary.
 Participation in marketing activities whether on a companywide, departmental or
office basis.
 Financial control with particular regard to cash-flow control through collection of
monies on account and billing procedures.

Preferred skills and experience

 Thorough working knowledge and experience in the relevant departmental law to be
able to act confidently for a range of clients.
 Good interpersonal and organisational skills.
 Good risk management skills, complying with regulatory requirements such as money
laundering and data protection.
 Good file management procedures.
 Remain up to date with changes in the law.
 Supervisory skills.
 Experience of working with Case Management systems.
 Excellent PC/keyboard skills.

Person specification

 Customer focus.
 Self-motivation: energy; positivity; can-do attitude.
 Flexibility.
 Confidentiality and discretion.
 Proactive; willing to use initiative.
 Able to work well independently as well as part of a team.
