The role

This is an exciting opportunity to join our established and well-respected Family Team, ranked Band 1 in Chambers 2017. The role will be based in the London office, fulfilling the need for a family solicitor to supplement our fast-developing private client team based there. Although based in London, occasional travel may be required to any of our other offices or elsewhere.

The successful candidate will be expected to advise on all areas of Family law and practice with an emphasis on financial and international matters to support our growing trust and estates cross-border team.

The current case load of the Team includes among others:-

Financial issues on divorce – high net worth and 'medium' money cases;Cohabitation disputes;Children issues;Pre/post Nuptial Agreements;Cross-border disputes

Whilst there is an emphasis on dispute resolution within the team, a strong litigation background will be expected.

The successful candidate will be an experienced solicitor who will be expected to manage their own caseload and have a following of clients and referrers. They should be actively involved in marketing/business development and be prepared to develop their own caseload with the support of the team and the sector.

Duties/Tasks/Responsibilities

  • Effectively manage an individual caseload.
  • Attend to clients of the Firm in the office or elsewhere if needed.
  • Work in a collegiate and collaborative way within an immediate Team and wider Firm environment, particularly as part of the private client team based in London.
  • Communicate promptly and effectively both internally to colleagues and externally to clients.
  • Maintain your continuing professional development requirements and take an active interest in furthering your knowledge within the field of law.
  • To carry out your work for both colleagues and clients to the highest possible standard, having regard to the Firm's standards, procedures and core values.
  • To regularly attend, and be involved in preparation for, Team meetings.
  • To attend and be involved in marketing and business development events and activities.

The successful candidate must be prepared to work beyond standard office hours in order to meet deadlines where necessary.

Additional Requirements

Our environment is positive and supportive but often highly pressurised due to external deadlines and volume of work. We need someone that is pro-active and able to manage potential pressure.

We are committed to recruiting talented individuals and providing our clients with outstanding legal service and so excellent academics along with sound previous experience are a must have.

The candidate should be well-organised, technologically proficient and capable of working on their own or within a team. They will also be required where necessary to provide supervision to more junior members of the team.

We operate within an environment of mutual trust and respect and so the ability to contribute to a pleasant working environment for all concerned, will be important.

Reporting

The post-holder will report on a day-to-day basis to the Head of the Family Team. The role will be based in the London office but will be required to liaise with Bath colleagues.
