THE ROLE

DLA Piper are now looking to hire a Risk Management Legal Counsel to assist with the notification of all claims across the firm handling matters from inception, through external and internal notification and reporting. This is a challenging and rewarding role, suitable for someone who is looking to move in-house or would like to continue their career as an in-house Legal Counsel.

The successful candidate will have experience working with professional indemnity claims. Candidates who have around two years’ PQE, are likely to have the right level of knowledge and have gained the right level of experience needed to be able to undertake this role.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

*

assist with the notification of all claims across the firm handling matters from inception, through external and internal notification and reporting

*

prepare and deliver regular updates to each practice group head on new, live and significant PI claims relevant to their practice

*

support the delivery of any training initiative on PI within local practice groups and offices

*

support the approval process for external appointment applications

*

support the communications and relationships with the captive insurer

*

support the role of the Claims Manager

*

lead the delivery of consistent and agreed training messages on mistakes being made by legal professionals

*

lead on PI elements required as part of the annual compliance declaration

SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES

*

have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

*

a self-starter

*

possess a high level of commercial acumen and analytical skills

*

have a sound understanding of contemporary Risk practices, as well as the business of law

*

flexible and collaborative personal working style

*

strong time management skills

*

be financially literate and technologically savvy

*

have a law degree and current practicing certificate and be willing the undertake specific risk management training/accreditation, where required
