The opportunity

The role is full time and will include:
* Developing a solid understanding of the team's specific practice area as well as the wider Disputes practice and the firm
* Business development tasks including maintaining client databases and mailing lists for e-bulletins, e-briefings and seminars
* Project managing client events including preparing mailing lists and invitations, facilitating events and follow-ups
* Liaising with the PSL, partners and BD colleagues on drafting and project managing tender responses and pitches
* Supporting the PSL in setting up and maintaining a global insurance hub which provides platform to share insurance knowledge across the firm's network
* Assisting in monitoring developments and considering topics for articles for our Product Liability Blog
* Legal research tasks to assist the fee earners
* Maintaining insurance library, liaising with library staff in relation to updating loose-leaf publications
* Preparing legal directories and award submissions for the practice
* Supporting production and development of internal and external newsletters and bulletins
* Credentials collection and maintenance
* Compiling bundles of documents for Counsel, experts witnesses and Court
* Providing assistance with ad-hoc queries and requests from the team

Skills, experience and qualifications

* Law degree or undergraduate degree (ideally 2.1 or first)
* Preferably will have successfully completed LPC/BVC
* Interest/experience in business development
* Office administration experience or paralegal work experience preferred
* Proficiency with systems, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint

This role primarily supports the PSL in the contentious insurance team of the London Disputes Division but will also support the partners and fee earners of this team more generally.

The PSL Paralegal's role is unique in that a large proportion of their time is devoted to co-ordinating and working on business development activities for the team. This provides a great opportunity for the successful candidate to learn and develop business development skills whilst also undertaking more typical paralegal responsibilities.

The contentious insurance team is a market leading practice with high quality work. The right candidate will have the opportunity to become involved in supporting fee earners in the team with legal research and other substantive tasks on client matters.
