The Firm

Purpose of role

This role is focused on a number of on-going and future projects within the Revenue Control department at Dentons.

Responsibilities

Apperio Support:

* Working with the Client Relationship Partner (CRP) to identify related clients and matters to be released into Apperio

* Facilitating the checking process with fee-earning groups to review matters and identify anything which looks out of place and apply necessary fixes

* Working with fee-earners to demo and give access, sharing documentation and best practice

* Ensuring data entry which influences output in Apperio are set correctly. Working with CRP to agree communications internally and to the client, and agreeing a release date

* Working with Apperio to identify all the right matters according to the criteria agreed, and releasing matters

* Working with the CRP to field any queries on matters which have been released, and working queries back into Elite

* Working with IntApp to capture client specific information relevant to Apperio at matter opening stage

* On-going maintenance/quality checking for all matters visible to clients

Budgeting by Phase / Task codes:

* Review the process of budgeting for a matter and implementing best practice

* Managing the historical code sets currently used in Elite and reducing the number of sets currently available

* Working with fee earner teams in Dispute Resolution re implementation of new mandatory Jackson code sets

* Working with the training team so they have knowledge how to use budgeting tools effectively so they can encourage all fee earners to budget and deliver profitable matters

Billing Workflow:

* Assisting and developing a billing workflow for use by fee earners and secretaries, initially in the Scottish offices, but with a view to expanding to the wider UKMEA business

* Liaising with the developers and the internal Accounting Systems team

Revenue Projects:

* Ad hoc involvement in UKMEA and Global projects that affect the UKMEA Revenue team

* On-going data cleansing and formatting of client and matter data in Elite

Required experience, skills and attributes

* Good knowledge and understanding of the working capital function of a law firm

* Possesses the confidence to deal effectively with Partners and clients

* Good interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal

* Able to prioritise and multi-task particularly when working under pressure and to tight deadlines

* Able to interact positively at all levels and a good team player

* Methodical approach to work with a strong focus on accuracy

* Hardworking and enthusiastic approach to work; professional in outlook, attitude and appearance

* Confident using MS Office, including Word and Excel

* Knowledge of the Elite accounts system, and of e-billing systems, would be an advantage

* Basic knowledge of Solicitors' Accounts Rules, and VAT

* Flexible and prepared to work additional hours at month, quarter and year ends to assist the Revenue team

Personal skills / attributes

* Excellent written and verbal communication skills

* Highly structured and organised individual, with good attention to detail, accuracy and quality

* Able to interact positively at all levels within the firm and a good team player

* Able to demonstrate good client/customer facing skills

* Able to make decisions and remain calm while under pressure – particularly when dealing with difficult situations

* Proactive with a "can-do" attitude in all areas, with a strong sense of self-motivation.

* Understands the need for documentation and well-defined procedures

* Professional in outlook, attitude and appearance

Language Capabilities

We are a truly global law firm and as such, always welcome hearing from those with foreign language capabilities. In light of our recent combination, Mandarin language fluency would be particularly advantageous given that China is now core to our strategy.
