LITIGATION & REGULATORY ASSOCIATE – LEEDS

Brief

We are currently looking to recruit a Litigation Associate level
lawyer with 4 – 6 years PQE to join our Leeds office.

Background

This
role sits within a team of fee earners, and reports to a partner or
director. The role is to fill a need for
a broad spectrum commercial litigation lawyer at associate level who can take
the lead on mid sized claims with lighter supervision and support partners and
directors and supervise junior resources on larger claims. Experience of handling litigation and pre
litigation particularly contract and tortious actions is required. Work areas include IT disputes, product
liability claims, corporate M&A related disputes, environmental disputes,
pensions, universities and fraud. However
the work load is varied and covers all dispute areas other than IP,
construction and property litigation.

The Candidate Required

Candidates must (consistent with the years of experience) be good
problem solvers, have a good knowledge of the CPR and practice and knowledge of
the law and practice affecting one or more of the dispute areas described
above. Be able to demonstrate an ability
to identify key issues, steps required, timescales, resourcing and strategy to
run mid sized disputes successfully and to contribute to the setting of these
parameters in larger cases. The
candidate should have had experience of instructing and supervising more junior
team members to support their work.
Equally important is commercial awareness, and a personable and
enthusiastic approach. A sound academic
background, excellent written and communication and organisational skills are
all requirements.

The Team

The Leeds disputes and regulatory team has 3 partners, 3 legal
directors and 8 other fee earners. The
team prides itself on being friendly and inclusive and is looking for people
who will fit in with this ethos and make their careers here in the medium to
long term. The work covers a broad
spectrum of civil litigation offering plenty of interest and stimulation and
involves disputes of all sizes typically up to the mid £ tens of millions. Clients are typically medium to large
corporates including a range of listed companies. The team seeks to involve all members in
client relationship building and business development.
