CMS are currently looking for an HR Business Partner to provide strategic input into the Firm's strategy and the people agenda. This position will work alongside the Practice Group Leaders in the Litigation, Arbitration, Insurance and Employment Practice Group and Disputes Matrix to develop the talent agenda in their group. Through strong relationships work with them and the wider Business Partnering and HR team to design and implement appropriate commercially driven actions to support this and other firm-wide initiatives.

About the role

*

Lead HR Business Partnering responsibility for the Litigation, Arbitration, Insurance and Employment Practice Group and Disputes Matrix – to be a key point of contact for HR service for this client group along with a dedicated HR Advisor and shared HR Assistant.

*

Work with designated Partner(s)/PGL to define a people plan for the practice group, including resource planning, skills development requirements, active career management and employee engagement to enable them to deliver on their department strategy.

*

Liaise with other HRBPs working across the Disputes Matrix to ensure an understanding of strategic priorities and drive consistency and share best practice.

*

Work closely with the Recruitment, Graduate Talent, and Learning and Development teams to ensure that they understand the future requirements of the practice group and provide a seamless service.

*

To deliver cyclical HR activity such as performance reviews and annual reward cycle, working closely with the Finance Business Partner on budget setting and review.

*

Provide trusted strategic and operational advice to Partners on HR matters.

*

Provide general advice on HR policies and managing complex/or high-risk employee relations issues, and coaching other team members in effective people management.

*

Ensure the delivery of outstanding operational service through coaching and developing other members of the team, via direct and indirect management responsibility.

*

Work with colleagues to drive innovation and continuous improvement across the HR function ensuring knowledge is captured across the firm.

About you

*

An HR Business Partner with solid experience within a law firm or professional services environment.

*

Commercial and pragmatic with a hands on approach.

*

Strong diagnosis and analysis skills and ability to exercise good judgement.

*

Strong coaching, influencing and negotiation skills to foster true strategic partnering, rather than generalist advisory.

*

Excellent written and oral communication skills. Able to articulate best practice HR in a practical and accessible manner, both face to face and in writing. Strong presentation skills desirable.

*

Able to build relationships at all levels based on trust, respect and service delivery.

*

Management, coaching and mentoring skills.

*

Confident, calm and credible with excellent communication and relationship building skills.
