JOB TITLE: Events & Sponsorship Manager

REPORTING TO: Senior Marketing Manager / BD & Marketing Director JOB OVERVIEW: A key member of the marketing team, the Events & Sponsorship Manager will be responsible for the management
and delivery of all firm event and sponsorship activity, supporting the business to build and sustain an award
winning profile, reputation and brand.

Playing a key role in driving forward the firm’s event and sponsorship activity with a commitment to delivering an
innovative events programme across the firm and work closely with the BD team and partners to establish a fuller
understanding of departmental business development targets and objectives in order to create relevant, strategy-
led events.

This is a busy position offering lots of variety and development so the successful candidate should demonstrate
the ability to manage and prioritise a demanding workload and proactively deliver exceptional results. They will
work closely with the other business development and marketing professionals, partners and lawyers to ensure
the firm’s events and sponsorship initiatives are consistent and successfully delivered.

This role will be based in Edinburgh or Glasgow. However, travel to all our offices will be required on a regular
basis. CORE TASKS: Event management • Develop and execute a varied and interesting events programme throughout the year, which assists in

delivering the firm’s strategic business objectives. Manage a formal post-event review process to
determine ROI and share findings with the firm. • Act as an ambassador to the firm, providing expert guidance and advice on all event and sponsorship
activity, identifying memorable and creative event formats for potential/existing clients. • Ensure the production of effective business case appraisals for all events and coordinate systematic
analysis and feedback for each event, making informed decisions and meaningful recommendations for
future activity. • Enhance internal engagement. Work with the Marketing & Events Assistant to raise the profile of events,
sponsorship and seminars across firm. Delivering regular updates to ensure everyone knows what is
coming up and how they can get involved. • Managing all external/internal suppliers involved in the execution of event activity with ongoing quality
control.



2 • Producing critical time plans and coordinating actions for all parties involved in the execution of events. • Ensure innovative and creative communications/supporting materials are produced, with coherent key
messages and consistency in style throughout. • Managing resource required from marketing team in the delivery of events, including associated design
and print, media relations and staffing on the day. • Create and maintain resources for recording supplier details, preferred venues, rates etc. and sharing this
information as appropriate. • Undertake ongoing competitor and market research to identify new approaches and opportunities to
encourage differentiation. Seminar programme • Oversee the coordination of the annual seminar programme across the firm, ensuring topical seminar and
webinar activity across the firm and seamless delivery of the programme. Manage the Marketing &Events
Assistant on the positioning and organisation of the programme - arranging key speakers, developing
targeted distribution lists with BD team, managing Brodies attendance and positively promoting seminars
and across the website, other events and social media. • Work across departments to provide a cost-effective, strategy-led seminar programme. Conduct
competitor analysis, seeking ways to set Brodies events apart, encouraging innovation and ensuring
creativity at all times. • Report on the seminar programme - actively review processes for seminars and webinars to make
improvements for clients and encourage best practice.
Sponsorship • Plan and deliver the Brodies Tennis Invitational. Work in collaboration with the BD & Marketing Director,
venue event staff, suppliers, charity partners and sponsors to deliver this annual event. Work with the
partnership on event strategy for corporate guests and work closely with the digital and comms team to
develop promotion plans for sponsorship activity and establish when it is appropriate to promote on social. • Deliver the firm’s sponsorship initiatives - develop relationships with key organisations, negotiate costs
and packages. Management of associated activity such as events, marketing, branding, speaker
opportunities, exhibition stands, charity tables, website profile and PR. • Responsibility for firm sponsorship agreements and driving them forward – work with the BD & Marketing
Director to make decisions on whether a proposal is value for money, relevant, the benefit / risk
considerations for the firm should we go ahead. • Carry out regular communication about sponsorships, both to the firm (raising the profile internally and
actively manage Brodies’ representation) as well as working with the team to promote our involvement out
to the market. • Evaluate feedback from sponsorship initiatives and ongoing quality control – making informed decisions
and suggestions for future activity. CRM • Take a lead role in the implementation of the new CRM system – paying particular attention to introducing
an effective event management tool and invitation suite. Work to review the stats from the seminar series
email campaigns and use this information to guide future approach. • Coordination of all database projects relating to event activity – ensuring quality and targeted data across

each area of the business for event planning purposes to maximise attendance rates. • Work as part of a team to ensure all activity is and GDPR complaint and data protection policy is upheld. Budget management • Plan and set the events, seminars and sponsorship budget for the coming year and actively manage
these, taking ownership of spend to ensure we are coming in below budget. • Analyse cost, effectiveness and value for money. People management • Effective management of Marketing & Events Assistant. Leading by example and encouraging
development while providing guidance and support where necessary. PERSON SPECIFICATION: This is an attractive opportunity for a creative, pro-active and highly organised individual looking to build on their

existing events experience. In addition to proven experience in the above areas of responsibility we seek a
graduate with at least 5 years’ experience. A commitment to, or existing additional professional marketing /
business qualifications is desirable but not essential. • A proactive approach, creativity, tenacity and energy. • High attention to detail and strong client (commercial) focus. • Excellent communication skills – both written and oral. • Excellent interpersonal and influencing skills. • Professional in outlook, attitude and appearance. • Politically astute – can make tough decisions and follow through, anticipating areas of risk and taking

appropriate action to address these. • Ability to motivate, develop and inspire both team and fee earners to deliver business goals and change
behaviour where required. • Ability to work to deadlines, juggle multiple projects and deliver under pressure. Ability to plan ahead,
anticipate workload of the team and manage others’ time efficiently, balancing conflicting priorities and
