DLA Piper's Team provides the full range of tax services that address the challenges of international commerce and business operations. With more than 300 tax advisors in offices throughout the world, we help companies address the complex challenges of international commerce and business operations as well as manage and resolve tax disputes. With the ongoing implementation of the BEPS Actions and increasing complexity of tax legislation, companies operating in the global economy experience complex tax issues which require a coordinated global delivery of services incorporating both knowledge of national legislation, as well as the appropriate international perspective.
Our global tax group also assists clients in structuring a wide range of transactions, from private equity deals to corporate acquisitions and disposals. Our tax lawyers draw upon the experience of colleagues in numerous areas of law, including intellectual property and technology, corporate and finance, real estate, projects, employment and employee benefits. The DLA international Tax Team has the motto "One team, no borders" and we are increasingly close to each other.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The international Global VAT group is one of the most integrated groups in the Global Tax Team. Due to our international network including VAT, GST and Sales Tax advisors in different jurisdictions, we are able to provide a seamless cross border service, integrating the different rules of the jurisdictions into our advice. Our VAT work in UK involves finance, real estate, ESS, cross border goods and services, gambling tax and M&A work. Most of our VAT lawyers also have direct tax experience, so we are able to give VAT advice in the context of the overall tax implications of any particular project. In addition, we have contentious VAT lawyers within the team who can provide assistance in relation to VAT disputes and negotiating settlements.
In anticipation of Brexit, the London Tax team now seeks an additional practitioner with approximately 2 years PQE or equivalent, gained in a firm with a strong reputation in this area to practice in indirect tax. It is preferred that the candidate has some customs duties experience. It is intended that the candidate works closely with the trade team in the event of a hard Brexit.
SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES
Candidates must have experience of international working and integrating the different rules of jurisdictions into client advice.
A good academic record.
Candidates must be able to demonstrate sound technical ability.
Strong inter-personal and team-working skills also a must.
