Our client is a L500 listed practice with a truly exceptional reputation. They combine the quality of their full service offering, L500 tier rankings, and quality client base, with a family-friendly approach and refreshing work/life balance. They are like a city centre practice but are in fact based on the outskirts of Birmingham. Our client acts for many of the region’s leading businesses. On our sales mandates, the acquirer will often be a blue chip company although the target may not necessarily be a household name. They have trusted adviser status for many clients and are regarded as strategic advisers rather than lawyers.

A specialist corporate practitioners, but commercially savvy and have an appreciation of accounting and tax matters that usually outweighs most other lawyers. This embeds their relationship with clients and gives them a unique offering. Client retention is very high and they frequently pick up counterparties as clients. We frequently act without a lead corporate adviser and will be far more involved in commercial negotiation and structuring.

The opportunity:
The person recruited into this position can consider working towards a partnership position within the medium to long term. The firm are very pro in recruiting their partners from within.

You will undertake routine corporate work with minimal supervision and support principally the Senior Partner in more complex and larger transactions. On more complex assignments, the role may vary from day to day and is conducted with only strategic input from the partner. You will have responsibility for specific aspects of the transaction, such as funding, due diligence/disclosure etc.

The team’s current structure consists of four Partners, one Associate, one Assistant, one NQ, a Paralegal and a Trainee.

There is an opportunity to undertake business development, but the team has an abundance of work at the moment so the focus is upon doing work well.

  • Ability to work on all aspects of corporate transactions, including dealing with funding and taxation aspects;
  • Ability to offer some supervision to paralegals and trainees;
