We have a strategic focus on Private Wealth, Finance and Investment and Real Estate. In the South West in particular, we also have strong sector support for Energy, Manufacturing, Real Estate and Technology and Innovation.

With a total complement of around 450 lawyers, professional advisers, paralegals and business service staff, we are the largest professional services firm based in the region. Our longstanding history and solid values has created an entrepreneurial environment where we treat all people, clients and employees alike, as individuals. We pride ourselves on the leading role we play in the business community and our ability to make our connections count for our clients, old and new.

The team:

The Corporate team is one of the most successful in the South West. We are consistently ranked Top Tier in the Legal 500 and Chambers. We operate as one team across Exeter, Bristol and London, and all lawyers work regularly on deals across different offices.

Typically, we advise on 75-100 deals a year. Examples include:

 • Mergers and acquisitions – private company and listed plc transactions

• Joint ventures

• Private equity and venture capital – acting for investors, investee companies and management teams

• Start-ups and university spin outs

• Energy - handling a variety of corporate, fundraising and structuring matters for clients in the energy sector

The team's client base consists of a diverse range of quality local, national and international companies. Whilst many of the larger companies and key entrepreneurs in the region use us for their core corporate and commercial work, we are increasingly acting for national and international clients, including in emerging markets. We have probably the strongest AIM and capital markets team available to clients in the region, with specialists in Exeter and London acting for both listed companies and brokers and other institutions.

The work is demanding, but the team has a great working environment and an open and friendly culture, and is proud and protective of its reputation.

You will already have some experience of working in a corporate or commercial team, either as a trainee or newly qualified lawyer, and will want to progress your career in corporate finance, financial services and / or energy and renewables. You will be able to build effective and positive client relationships quickly and fully embrace the importance of client service.

Collaboration is central to the way we operate. As an enthusiastic team player, you will be as committed to the Firm's success as we are.
