THE ROLE

We are now looking to recruit a number of Conflicts Assistants to perform legal and commercial conflict searches on behalf of lawyers throughout the International Firm (excluding the US), and to analyse resulting search information to identify potential conflicts. The roles offer candidates exposure to a challenging workload supported by thorough training, and an opportunity for career development in one for the Firm's key Business Services teams.

Please note these are shift based roles with various shift patterns, essentially split into day and evening shifts. Actual shift hours will be clarified upon application and will be dependent upon vacancies.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

*

Reviewing conflict search request information submitted by lawyers throughout the International Firm for accuracy and completeness, and liaising with lawyers in connection with queries arising from such requests

*

Carrying out conflicts searches against information held within the firm's Global Conflicts Database

*

Analysing resulting search information for conflicts purposes, identifying the existence of potential conflict issues and bringing them to the attention of the relevant lawyers throughout the International Firm

*

Compiling daily Conflicts Broadcasts accessible to the International Firm

*

Maintaining information held in the firm's commercial and sensitive matter database ("the Blue Box database")

*

Working closely with the International Conflicts Resolution Team and US Firm's conflicts teams to ensure a prompt and accurate service to lawyers.

*

Escalating new matters as and when appropriate under the firm's client and matter intake criteria

*

Performing other tasks associated with the role of the team in relation to conflicts checking

SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES

*

Candidates should ideally be educated to degree level or equivalent, but non-graduates with previous compliance or conflicts search experience will also be considered

*

Experience in a compliance / risk management role would be an advantage but candidates with extensive research and analysis experience will also be considered

*

Knowledge of computer systems including Windows-based PC software and proficiency in use of the internet as a research tool, and internet based applications

*

Analytical skills are an essential element of this role

*

Solve problems in a methodical and practical way and an excellent attention to detail

*

Ability to work under pressure, to strict deadlines, and to exercise initiative

*

Work independently and as part of a team

*

Adapt to new processes and technology

*

Communicate effectively with Risk Management team members, lawyers and members of staff throughout the International Firm

*

Multi lingual skills are desirable but not mandatory
