What are we looking for: 

We are looking for a number of criminal Caseworkers to join our team, whilst you do not need to have any knowledge or experience of criminal casework or working within Immigration Enforcement, you will need to: 

• Enjoy following processes and working within rules and guidelines; 
• Have the aptitude to both learn and understand policies, process and procedures; 
• Be naturally inquisitive and use this curiosity to develop an informed opinion and make accurate decisions. 

Following training you would be responsible for a wide range of duties including but not limited to: 

• Making decisions on cases relating to asylum claims, the withdrawal of refugee status, the decision to deport or detain, certification of cases, resolution of outstanding applications or fresh representations; 
• Completing priority actions and progress cases to deportation as quickly as possible following policy and guidance; 
• Liaising with stakeholders to ensure risks are managed including: prisons, courts, police, Offender Managers, Immigration Removal Centres (IRCs), Social Services, legal representatives and health care professionals; 
• Ensuring Foreign National Offenders released into the community are supervised in line with their bail conditions and their cases are progressed towards removal; 
• Responding to Judicial Review Litigation Team (JRLT) requests, provide a witness statement and attend court as a witness of the Home Office; 
• Providing first drafts on complex pieces of work to include letters and submissions.

Many of our successful candidates will have studied law or come from a law background, however this isn't essential.

• Excellent written communication skills; the ability to use language with precision to clearly articulate decisions; 
• Experience in developing and using a sound evidence base; 
• Ability to plan, collaborate with and deliver, including through others, to short deadlines.
