About Eversheds Sutherland:

Our company commercial department handles a variety of transactions for some significant public and privately owned UK and international companies. Our department includes a wide variety of experts, from M&A and banking lawyers to tax and IP specialists. With the resources of an international firm and an award-winning, innovative approach, all of our people are able to offer progressive business solutions that modern day organisations require.

We have an opportunity for an Associate with at least one year’s post-qualification experience to join the Manchester Banking team. The Banking team is a leading practice which advises on some of the largest and most high profile deals in the region. The team also works on transactions across the UK with our Banking teams in other offices. This is an excellent opportunity to work with named Legal 500 / Chambers partners who have a high profile in the region. You can expect to gain unrivalled experience and to enjoy career opportunities in a dynamic and supportive environment, coupled with first-rate training and development.

Key responsibilities:

You will advise on a wide variety of transactions, many with an international aspect. Your focus will be on banking, including advising our lender and corporate clients on financing transactions. This will encompass the full range of syndicated and bilateral facilities on corporate refinancing (secured and unsecured), acquisition finance and real estate finance. You will also work closely with our Restructuring team on distressed re-financing transactions and other restructuring work.

You will manage your own smaller matters and work closely with the rest of the team on more significant transactions - having direct client contact from day one. You will also be encouraged to get involved in business development activities with the rest of the team and the wider department and will be given the opportunity to develop your own relationships.

Skills and experience:

You will have been working within a reputable Banking team for at least the past year and will be able to bring with you experience and expertise to allow you to work as part of our wider team on larger transactions, as well as to have responsibility for some smaller matters. You will have solid technical skills as well as a commercial mind.

Key competencies:

You should be a team player, client focused and a good communicator with a practical approach to your workload.

At Eversheds, we believe that innovation comes from a culture of genuine equality and diversity and we are happy to discuss any reasonable adjustments individuals may require in the recruitment process, or once in post. We are an LGBT inclusive employer and are Stonewall Corporate Champions

Eversheds endeavours to recruit and fill vacancies directly. However, when we do need to engage with agencies, Eversheds operates within a preferred supplier list.
