About Eversheds Sutherland:

Eversheds Sutherland’s Construction and Engineering UK team is a strong national team with real depth and scale comprising 14 partners and 57 fee-earners; the largest team in the UK which works almost exclusively for Purchaser clients, which sets us apart. We consider we have unsurpassed depth of expertise in our key sectors of energy, real estate and transport and we have an involvement in pretty much every piece of major infrastructure in the UK.

Key illustrations of this in relation to the work of our Cardiff team are as follows:

• Energy - clients include EDF Energy, RWE, National Grid, E.ON and Welsh Water Water and with extensive work undertaken on international projects in the Middle East, Africa and Asia;

• Transport - clients include Network Rail and Stena Line;

• Real Estate Investment/Development - working alongside our market leading Cardiff real estate team for clients including GlaxoSmithKline, Annington, SEGRO and L&G;

• We also act for leading global US tech firms and other multi-national institutions and businesses as occupiers of commercial property, and are currently advising on and managing clients' legal procurement for multiple European expansion projects from our Cardiff office.

The firm combined last year with US practice Sutherland and acquired offices in five other jurisdictions. It is now the fourth largest law firm in the world by footprint.

We have an opportunity for an Associate to join the team based in Cardiff (currently comprised of 2 Partners and 8 Associates) and work predominantly on transactional construction & engineering matters.

Key responsibilities:

Working directly with the Partners and Associates in the team, you will receive a varied and exciting transactional workload.

Skills and experience:

You will ideally be experienced in transactional construction & engineering work and have good commercial acumen. In addition, you will be able to demonstrate exceptional organisation skills as well as high attention to detail.

Key competencies:

You will be a team player with the ability to build rapport with both clients and colleagues and will be committed to delivering a high quality service to clients.

We’re a modern, progressive law firm. We’re driven by new ideas; we’re excited by new approaches; and we’re also refreshingly down-to-earth and supportive. We think differently and we’ve built a culture where individual skills and personalities can shine through.

At Eversheds Sutherland, we believe that innovation comes from a culture of genuine equality and diversity and we are happy to discuss any reasonable adjustments individuals may require in the recruitment process, or once in post.
